You are offered

  • the opportunity to work with high-quality and innovative care at the forefront
  • a knowledge-intensive environment where you can develop yourself and make a difference
  • an organization that values collegiality, teamwork, and process work with a patient focus.

We believe in openness, transparency, and strong collaboration within the team.

  • personal introduction tailored to your individual skills and needs, as well as mentoring support from experienced nursing experts close to you and the patient
  • several internal training sessions per year, ongoing scenario training, A-CPR training, and opportunities for reflection sessions

Of course, you will also benefit from our general benefits that Karolinska University Hospital offers you.

About the position

The Intensive Care Unit in Huddinge is part of the Perioperative Medicine and Intensive Care Function (PMI). In our functional premises, we care for patients of all ages, including very small children.

As an intensive care nurse with us, you will care for patients with advanced hematological, hepatological, and cardiological conditions as well as complicated infectious conditions. We also care for a large flow of patients who have undergone upper gastrointestinal surgery and manage the entire acute ENT flow in Stockholm. Additionally, we conduct very advanced pediatric intensive care following liver transplants, which is one of our national highly specialized care assignments. Another national highly specialized care assignment we have is high-risk infections where we collaborate with the infectious diseases clinic.

Since we are a university hospital and education is one of our missions, you will, in your role, mentor and educate students and colleagues in various ways. We have a model for workplace-based education where we work systematically with mentoring from interprofessional teams.

There is an opportunity to join interdisciplinary development teams together with doctors, nurses, and nursing assistants focusing on improving care in areas such as respiration, pain, and pediatrics.

For night work, we apply an agreement where 32.20 hours/week is considered full-time, as well as a doubled on-call compensation during the hours of 10:00 PM to 6:00 AM and a retention bonus. This means 40 extra hours in the time bank that can be taken out as leave, salary, or pension contributions if you work for more than a year. Before transitioning to night work, you will start working day and evening shifts for at least three months. This way, you will have time to get to know both colleagues, patients, and the routines of the operation.

We are looking for someone who

  • works well in a team and has good communication skills
  • is calm, stable, and controlled in stressful situations
  • can easily adapt to changing circumstances and can quickly change your perspective and approach
  • shows respect for the patient and provides safe care characterized by openness and quality.

Within our operation, you also need to be able to handle situations where patients and relatives are in crisis, so it is important that you meet all patients and relatives with respect and empathy.

We place great importance on your personal suitability.

Qualifications

Requirements:

  • Licensed nurse with specialized training in intensive care.
